Lizbeth Johnson was appointed Director of Technology in 2014, serving as Director of Academic Technology from 2011-2014. Her experience in industry includes an engineering position at Sikorsky Aircraft. She earned her Master's degree in Education from North Carolina State University.
Today's incredible advances in technology have also made it possible to bring the world into the classroom and a myriad of resources and technologies constantly vie for our attention. The best of these tools enhance the learning experience and prepare our students for success in an increasingly technology-based world. PCS is committed to exploring these options to enhance the learning experience and as Director of Academic Technology, I strive to to enable the PCS faculty to integrate these new tools into their classrooms.
Professional Children's School has always been committed to distance learning. In fact, PCS was a trailblazer one hundred years ago when it allowed its students to keep up with their school work on correspondence, sending their work back to PCS via the U.S. Mail. Today, technology makes it easier for students and teachers to keep in contact when professional or pre-professional obligations require a student to be away.
PCS will always be classroom based, but as we affirm in in our Technology Vision Statement, PCS also aspires to be a school whose program enables students to learn in part through online exchange of ideas, content and instruction.
